Congrats to Cathy and Angelo!

Monday, September 22nd, 2008

Cathy and Angelo had their wedding and reception at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Charlotte. Their day featured a traditional Greek ceremony with a traditional Greek and American reception. Dancing was non stop and went late into the evening.

You can’t lose with genuine moments during bridal prep.

The catherdral is one of the most ornate in the area. Though camera flash was allowed, I chose to go with the ambient lighting of the church to preserve its character.

I like the detail in this shot. The angle speaks to the scope of the ceremony.

A nice first dance moment. Videographers can come in handy, adding a nice accent light here.

Dancing..check. Adoring audience…check. Napkins being tossed in the air…check. Fun moment.

The bride enjoying a traditional Greek wedding dance. Notice the shadows on the floor, back lit from a remote flash.

Congrats to Kathy and Kevin!

Kathy and Kevin were married at St Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church and held their reception at The Peninsula Club in Cornelius. Music was provided by Todd of Spintastic Sounds.

Someone recently suggested that when I post my favorite images of the day, I should also post what makes them my favorite. So here goes…

Peninsula Club Wedding

Here I like the contrast between the lines in the ceiling and brick wall and the curves of the dress and arms. It shows the teamwork that goes into doing even simple things during bridal prep.

Peninsula Club Wedding

This is a fairly traditional portrait which I normally don’t post here, but I just like the image. Probably because it has finally cooled off outside making shots like this possible without the sweat.

Peninsula Club Wedding

This is currently my favorite style of portrait. Balanced, understated, and simple.

Peninsula Club Wedding

Sometimes the best action photos don’t have much action in them. The crowd here has their cameras ready, and clearly the couple is gauging each others “cake in the face” strategy.

…Just in case Kevin is wondering why he woke up with bubble soap in his hair.
