Congrats to Deborah and Gibbon!

Deborah and Gibbon were married at the First Presbyterian Church in uptown Charlotte and held their reception at the Van Landingham off of The Plaza. Deborah’s wedding planner was Priscilla from Orangerie Events and was a pleasure to work with, highly recommended.

Music was provided by the live band Hipshack who I had not worked with before. They did a great job of keeping the dance floor moving and was a great fit for this fun crowd.

Whew, some free time for a blog post, a rarity indeed.

Noelle and Shawn were married at The Pointe in Mooresville, NC and also held their reception there. The day started at the Omni in uptown Charlotte which provided us with a couple of quick bridal portrait shots before we had to leave. Makeup and Hair was done by Kymm McClean who I always recommend to brides. The Point is a great venue and offers a boardwalk around the lake for picture opportunities.

Jason and Amanda were married at Vesuvius Vineyards in Iron Station, NC. Vesuvius is a great new venue that offers many possibilities for photos. Amanda and Jason took full advantage and it paid off.

Mary Blake and Raymond were married at Carmel Baptist in Matthews, NC and held their reception at Longview Country Club in Waxhaw. Yellow was the color of the day and featured throughout both venues and in the attire.

Here is Mary Blake’s bridal portrait that was displayed at the reception….

Mary Blake also requested the Igo Photo Booth. A breakthrough in science and technology, the Igo Photo Booth brings out the best in anyone with its patented mix of light, shadow, gauze pads, duct tape, and 40 weight ball bearings. A technology so advanced, I cannot say more.

Engagement… Marriage… Baby.

Its a natural progression isn’t it?

Maternity photography is probably one of the toughest things to shoot. Trying to stay classic and interesting without being corny or uncomfortable. Not an easy line to walk.

A Wet and Wild E-Session

So Katy, Mike, and myself met up in Uptown Charlotte a few weeks ago and decided to just walk around with a camera and see what happens. We started at the Green, walked up Tryon Street, and ended up back at the Green where the two soon to be marrieds decided to get a little nutty in the fish fountains. All in all a great time and some moments worth remembering.

E-Sessions are a great way to gain familiarity with your photographer before your wedding day and always highly recommended!

Alessandra and Beau were married at St Andrews Church in Mt Pleasant and held their reception at the South Carolina Aquarium in Charleston, SC. This group was up for anything and then some as shown by some of the pictures below. We ended up braving the spotty weather and shooting a bit around the aquarium.

The reception featured a large reef aquarium that I decided to turn into a large accent light via remote flash. (bare flash on aquarium with all other flashes using incandescent gels, giving it that nice rich blue color for you photo geeks). The reception also featured cigars that were hand rolled which I will be enjoying later today, thanks guys.

Wedding planning and decor was provided by Duvall Catering and Event Design.

Abbey and Adam were married at the First Methodist in uptown Charlotte and held their wedding reception at the Mint Museum just across the street from there. The couple has a great group of friends and as soon as the music hit the dancing was non stop throughout the night.

Entertainment was provided by Lavar from Split Second Sound, Makeup by Kym from Who’s the Fairest, and videography by Keith from KAStudios.

Jessica and Oteil were held a fantastic multicultural ceremony and reception at the Graylyn in Winston Salem, NC. Their wedding was planned by the dynamic duo at Carolina Wedding Design. The ceremony included traditions from Christianity, Judaism and Hinduism to celebrate their diverse ethnicity. Many of my clients are artists themselves and give me full artistic license in return, which I am always appreciative of!

Split Second Sound provided the music and the dancing went late into the evening.

Abby and Matt were married at the Stowe Manor in Belmont, NC. The venue is a Victorian style house that fit perfectly for their steampunk themed wedding. Many of the guests wore appropriate costumes themed from the late 1800’s to the early 1900’s. Music was provided by the Davenport Sisters who also host a weekly steampunk radio show in Chapel Hill.

Alison and Austin were married on the beach in Negril, Jamaica. The weather was 86 degrees and sunny, a very welcome sight for this Charlotte resident. Alison found me through the WPJA and was particularly interested in the photojournalism aspect of my work. We had a great time with them and their entire wedding party.

The wedding was planned by Michelle Sandy Thurston of www.YTCNaples.com and amazing ceremony music was played by Shyam Moses of www.shyammoses.com . These two were top notch.

Jessica + Oteil = Engaged

Recently Jessica, Oteil, myself, and Heather Bryson of Carolina Wedding Design set off on a chilly afternoon to conduct an engagement session. Being artists themselves, they were up for anything and everything, a blank photography canvas. I am lucky enough to be shooting their wedding later this year!

Engagement photography sessions are a great idea for any couple. Not only do you get fantastic images, it helps to build a familiarity with your photographer. This typically will make the wedding day sessions much more relaxed and comfortable. Engagement sessions are customized to the couple’s personality, and can take place anywhere and everywhere.

Here are just a few of my favorites of the afternoon.

2009 Year in Review

Another year come and gone, another thirty weddings I had the pleasure of documenting. Thirty couples gave me the privilege of peaking in on one of the most special days of their lives, and for that I am truly grateful.
